Forte
swordplay is an eclectic group dedicated to the study and
interpretation of classical texts (Fechtbuchs) written and left behind
by swordmasters from ages past. Our primary focus is on Medieval German
Longsword; however, we practice other styles as well. Ancillary studies
have examined Italian Rapier, German Rapier, Spanish Rapier, Tai Chi
Sword, and, occasionally, the empty-handed martial art known as Wing
Chun. We have even run a seminar on German Sickle based on the
interpretation of a Fechtbuch by Mair.
Members of our study group have also achieved acclaim in the following
formal disciplines: Kendo, Tai Chi, Kenjutsu, Tameshigiri, Rapier,
Karate, Jui-Jitsu, and Kung Fu.
