Weapon systems
Longsword
Rapier

                    Weapon systems

                            Kunst des Fechtens:

In our school the "Art of Fighting" with the longsword is primarily based on the verses composed by Johannes Liechtenauer.
In addition, we study Joachim Meyer and Paulus Hector Mair, as well as a few others.

                            Rapier:

Fencing with the Rapier is a challenging discipline that serves to complement the study of the longsword. Students are instructed in both the Italian and Spanish styles. Similarities and differences between the one-handed weapon (rapier) and the two-handed weapon (longsword) are discussed. We find this interdisciplinary approach most valuable for improving our general fencing skills. Comparative analogies from other martial arts prove useful as well.

                    Training sessions

                            Basic Training:

Drills involving the interaction of others are a core competency at Forte. Safety is our number one priority. The practice of the Meisterhauen and fencing techniques is conducted in a safe and friendly environment. A portion of the class involves sparing and the practical application of knowledge learned.

                            Historical Interpretation:

One evening a week is set aside for an interactive and rigorous interpetation of the classic fechtbuchs. Students are made active participants as some read from the texts as others act out the passages. Senior members of Forte guide the excercises and help others see the rationale behind the techniques being used.

                            Open Sparring:

One day a week is set aside just for sparring. This is more of a free-form class and provides an opportunity
for individual students to practice a certain technique that may be troubling them.
Fleixbility allows for a fun, nurturing environment
